The Grand Theatre in Blackpool offers a top night out for all types of people and all tastes. On a rare night off, we went to see The Full Monty and it was hilarious. We liked the film from years ago and had wanted to see a stage production for a while. When it was billed at the Grand, we booked right away.

The Full Monty is no longer showing at the Grand, but other performances are. Here is what is showing over the next couple of weeks. If The Full Monty was anything to go by, each one will be great entertainment.

Dreamboats and Miniskirts

Dreamboats and Miniskirts is about 1960s music, mainly the Beatles. It is the sequel to Dreamboats and Petticoats and continues the story of the couple who saw success with that first single. If you love 60s music and likes the original, this is sure to entertain.

Showing 21st to 26th September 2015.

ELO Again

We covered ELO Again a couple of weeks ago. It’s a tribute to the 70s legends that were the Electric Light Orchestra. This show is a re-enactment of many classic ELO concerts that features their songs and their sound as faithfully as possible. If you’re an ELO fan or just like 70s music, this could be for you.

Showing Sunday 27th September 2015.

Murder Is Announced

This is one for Agatha Christie fans. Murder Is Announced is a Miss Marple mystery put together by the Middle Ground Theatre Company. A murder is announced in advanced in a local paper and it’s up to Miss Marple to get to the bottom of things. It’s classic Christie and if you like her books, you’ll like this show.

Showing from 28th September until 3 October 2015.

Translation of Shadows

Translation of Shadows is a Japanese-style benshi show telling the story of a man who falls in love with a film star. This is an arts production that celebrates the silent performances of Japan. It’s definitely something a bit different which is a great way to broaden horizons.

Showing 2nd October 2015.

Ken Dodd OBE

Ken Dodd OBE should need no introduction, especially to anyone in Blackpool. This is apparently the “longest standup routine ever” so you’re in for a good time with this one. Dodd will likely roll out all the old favourites as well as introduce some new ones in this show. If you like a laugh, Dodd’s your man.

Showing 4th October until 1st November 2015.

Those are just some of the shows happening at The Grand Theatre in Blackpool over the next couple of weeks. If you’re staying with us at the North Ocean Hotel, just ask and we can arrange tickets if available.
